OIL PRESSURE Indicator

The OIL PRESSURE indicator is controlled by the oil pressure switch through CKT 31. The OIL PRESSURE indicator illuminates in order to warn the driver that a low engine oil pressure condition has been detected. Whenever the oil pressure falls below 28 kPa (4 psi), the oil pressure switch closes and the OIL PRESSURE indicator illuminates. The oil pressure switch is open when the oil pressure is above 28 kPa (4 psi). When the engine is initially cranked, the oil pressure is below 28 kPa (4 psi), thus the oil pressure switch closes and the indicator illuminates for the bulb inspection. When the engine starts, the oil pressure is above 28 kPa (4 psi). Thus, the oil pressure switch opens and the OIL PRESSURE indicator deactivates.
