Passlock System

The Passlock theft deterrent system is designed to prevent vehicle operation if the correct Ignition key is not used to start the vehicle. The ignition key allows the lock cylinder to turn, which allows the Passlock sensor (located inside of the ignition switch assembly) to send a code to the BCM. If the BCM receives the correct code from the Passlock sensor, the BCM sends a password to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) which allows the vehicle to start. For more information on the Passlock system, refer to Theft Deterrent.
