48. Oil Pan Clean and Inspect

CLEANING
1. Clean the oil pan in solvent. Caution: Wear safety glasses In order to avoid eye damage.
2. Dry the oil pan with compressed air.

INSPECTION





1. Inspect the oil pan for the following conditions:
^ The drain plug hole for damaged threads
^ The oil level switch (1) hole for damaged threads
^ Gouges or damage to the oil pan sealing surfaces
^ Damage to the oil pan baffle
^ Dents or damage to the exterior of the oil pan An oil pan that is dented may interfere with the position of the oil pump screen or not distribute oil properly in the pan sump area.
^ Damage to the oil pan gasket.
2. Repair or replace the oil pan as necessary.
