Wiper Gear Box: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE



1. Remove the wiper arms.
2. Remove the air inlet grille panel.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wiper motor.
4. Remove 3 screws and the wiper drive system module from the vehicle.




5. Remove the 3 grommets and the 2 caps from the wiper transmission.




6. Remove the drive link from the wiper motor crank arm using the J 39232.




7. Remove 2 screws and the wiper motor from the tube frame.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.




1. Install the wiper motor onto the tube frame with the 2 screws.

Tighten
Tighten the 2 screws to 10 N.m (88 lb in).




2. Install the drive link onto the wiper motor crank arm using the J39529.




3. Install the 3 grommets and the 2 caps on the wiper transmission.




4. Install the wiper drive system module onto the vehicle with the 3 screws.

Tighten
Tighten the 3 screws to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

5. Connect the electrical connector onto the wiper motor.
6. Install the air inlet grille panel.
7. Install the wiper arms.
8. Operate the wipers and inspect for proper operation.
