MUFFLER DESCRIPTION - MANUAL HVAC
A muffler is located in the compressor high-side (discharge) line in order to accomplish the following
^ Reduce compressor noises
^ Reduce line vibrations

The muffler is an integral part of the A/C compressor hose assembly. In order to replace the muffler, replace the entire hose assembly. Replace the muffler only if you detect an internal blockage.
