Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

Trunk Description

The trunk release system contains the following components:

* The fuel door/trunk release switch
* The driver's door switch
* The driver's door module (DDM)
* The rear integration module (RIM)
* The rear fuse block
* The trunk release relay
* The rear compartment lid release actuator
* The valet switch

The RIM operates the relays when it receives a class 2 message from the DDM. The RIM will then verify that the vehicle is in park before releasing either system.

The valet switch is used as a manual override for the system and must be closed in order for the release systems to work properly.
