General Information
The overhead console has separate sunroof vent and slide switches. The sunroof glass may be moved by switch control to any of the following positions:
^ Express Open / Comfort Stop (glass opens to within 100 mm of full open)
^ Slide fully open (retracted into the roof cavity)
^ Vent fully open (rear of glass raised to the limit of its travel)
^ Partially open in either slide or vent mode
^ Fully closed (flush with the vehicle roof)
The sunroof control module contains the logic for the opening and the closing of the sunroof based on the power sunroof slide switch, power sunroof vent switch, and the limit switch. The sunroof motor assembly contains the reversible DC drive motor, the gear train, and the limit switch.
The sunroof control module determines sunroof motor direction based on inputs received from the overhead console sunroof switches. When the Ignition switch is in the ON position or where in Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is active, voltage is applied to the power sunroof module. The sunroof control module controls power sunroof motor direction by changing the polarity of the applied voltage. The sunroof control module remembers the sunroof position whenever the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position. The limit switch is used to tell the sunroof control module that the glass is parallel to the sheet metal. The switches only supply open circuits or grounds to the module. An internal pull-up resistor in the sunroof control module, connected to battery voltage, supplies the voltage at each input when the switch contacts are open.
