A Preliminary Information
IMPORTANT: The following steps must be completed before using the symptom tables.1. Perform Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster, Diagnostic System Check - Driver Information Systems, or Diagnostic System Check - Audible Warnings before using the Symptom Tables in order to verify that all of the following are true:
^ There are no DTCs set.
^ The control module(s) can communicate via the serial data link.
2. Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to one of the following:
^ Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Description and Operation
^ Indicator/warning Message Description and Operation
^ Driver Information Center (DIC) Description and Operation
^ Audible Warnings Description and Operation
Visual/Physical Inspection
^ Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the Instrument Cluster, Driver Information Center, or Audible Warning Systems. Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories in Diagrams.
^ Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.
^ Perform a visual inspection of the fluid level before beginning diagnosis.
^ Verify that the indicators work properly during the displays test.
Intermittent
Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Diagrams.

^ Change Engine Oil Indicator Always On.
^ Charge Indicator Always On in Engine Electrical.
^ Charge Indicator Inoperative in Engine Electrical.
^ Cruise Control Indicator Always On in Cruise Control.
^ Cruise Control Indicator Inoperative in Cruise Control.
^ Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Always On.
^ Fog Lamp Indicator Always On (Rear) in Lighting and Horns.
^ Fog Lamp Indicator Inoperative (Rear) in Lighting and Horns
^ High Beam Indicator Always On in Lighting and Horns.
^ High Beam Indicator Inoperative in Lighting and Horns.
^ Low Engine Oil Level Indicator Always On
^ Seat Belt Indicator Circuit Malfunction in Seat Belt.

^ Traction Active Indicator Always On (W/NW9) in Antilock Brake System.
