Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Pad Replacement - Upper
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
3. Remove the right and the left instrument panel (I/P) access hole covers.
4. Remove the I/P insulators.
5. Remove the front carpet retainers.
6. Remove the windshield upper garnish moldings.
7. Remove the I/P upper trim panel.
8. Remove the front floor console
9. Remove the steering column filler.
10. Disconnect the data link connector.
11. Remove the knee bolster.
12. Remove the steering column.
13. Remove the hood release handle.
14. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate.
15. Remove the I/P cluster
16. Remove the I/P accessory trim plate.
17. Remove the radio.
18. Remove the HVAC control module.
19. Remove the I/P lighter.
20. Remove the ignition switch.
21. Remove the hazard warning and cruise control switch.
22. Remove the switch bank.
23. Remove the air temperature sensor.
24. Remove the I/P compartment.
25. Remove the I/P compartment lamp switch.
26. Reposition the fuse block.
27. Remove the driver side I/P trim pad bolts from the hinge pillar.
28. Remove the passenger side I/P trim pad bolts from the hinge pillar.
29. Remove the I/P trim pad bolts from the cluster pocket.
30. Remove the I/P trim pad bolts near the windshield.
31. Reposition the I/P wiring harness.
32. Remove the I/P trim pad from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Align the I/P trim pad to the vehicle.
2. Reposition the I/P wiring harness.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the I/P trim pad bolts near the windshield.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
4. Install the I/P trim pad bolts to the cluster pocket.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
5. Install the passenger side I/P trim pad bolts to the hinge pillar.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
6. Install the driver side I/P trim pad bolts to the hinge pillar.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
7. Install the fuse block.
8. Install the I/P compartment lamp switch.
9. Install the I/P compartment.
10. Install the air temperature sensor.
12. Install the ignition switch.
13. Install the hazard warning and cruise control switch.
14. Install the I/P lighter.
15. Install the HVAC control module.
16. Install the radio.
17. Install the I/P accessory trim plate.
18. Install the I/P cluster.
19. Install the I/P cluster trim plate.
20. Install the hood release handle.
21. Install the steering column.
22. Install the knee bolster.
23. Install the data link connector.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
24. Install the steering column filler.
25. Install the front floor console
26. Install the I/P upper trim panel.
27. Install the windshield side upper garnish moldings.
28. Install the I/P insulators.
29. Install the front carpet retainers.
30. Install the right and the left I/P access hole covers.
31. Enable SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
32. Connect the battery negative cable.
