Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder Replacement

Removal Procedure

Important: You must perform the BCM theft deterrent relearn procedure after replacement of the ignition switch lock cylinder.






1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
2. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
3. Remove the ignition switch bezel from the ignition switch lock cylinder, using a small flat-bladed tool.
4. Insert the key and turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ON position.

Important: Ignition cylinder will not rotate or is seized.


5. Follow procedure in ignition switch replacement. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement ().
6. Using a small flat-bladed tool, depress and hold the lock cylinder retaining tab from the radio access hole.
7. Using the key, pull to remove the ignition switch lock cylinder from the ignition switch.
8. Remove the key from the ignition switch lock cylinder.


Installation Procedure





1. Recode the ignition switch lock cylinder, if necessary. Refer to Key and Lock Cylinder Coding in General Information.
2. Insert the key and turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ON position.
3. Align the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ignition switch, then press into place.
4. Turn the key to the OFF position and remove the key.
5. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
6. Align the ignition switch bezel slots to the tabs on the ignition switch lock cylinder and press into place until fully seated.
7. Connect negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
8. Perform the BCM theft deterrent relearn procedure, if the ignition switch lock cylinder was replaced. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
