Recall - Improper Emission Control Label
No.: 304DECEMBER, 1981
To: CHRYSLER CORPORATION DEALERS
SUBJECT:
IMPROPER EMISSION CONTROL INFORMATION LABEL
MODELS:
1982 EARLY BUILT CHRYSLER/PLYMOUTH AND PASSENGER CARS
Incorrect emission control information labels may have been installed on the subject vehicles. An improper label, if installed, would contain incorrect specifications which could result in incorrect settings during subsequent vehicle maintenance.
To ensure that proper procedures end specifications are met, it is necessary that ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES IN DEALER STOCK BE CORRECTED BY INSTALLING THE PROPER LABEL OVER THE EXISTING ONE. The correct label for each specific. individual vehicle is in an envelope with the notification form.
The customer notification letter will be sent to all affected owners of record and it instructs owners on how to install the label themselves. Replacement labels have been sent directly to owners and it is anticipated that they will install them. However, if a vehicle is brought to you for correction, please install the label.
OWNER NOTIFICATION
A revised version of Recall Campaign Claim Form (# 83-295-0018) consisting of a recall notification and two copies of a recall claim will be used for this recall. This may appear to be a completely different form from those used in the past in that it is a snap-out mailer rather then the conventional form. However, the lay-out and content of the actual recall claim is the same as used in the past. (No carbon paper is required.) The owner is instructed to present the entire form when the recall service is to be performed. On vehicles for which we do not have an owner name and address. the form and label are mailed to the selling dealer and we request that you identify the owner using the vehicle identification number printed on the face of the form. Please type or print the owner name and address on a gummed label, place over the envelope window and mail the entire form and label to the owner.
COMPLETION/STATUS REPORTING
As soon as you have completed the service, submit the recall claim for payment. Submission of the claim will also serve as our record that the service has been completed. Retail the second copy of the form for your records.
