With A/T


The engine is removed without the transmission.
1. Disconnect battery cables and drain cooling system.
2. Scribe hood hinge locations and remove hood.
3. Disconnect transmission cooler lines and radiator hoses, then remove radiator, hoses and cooling fan.
4. Remove air cleaner assembly, then the A/C compressor, if equipped, and position aside.
5. Disconnect all wiring, hoses, lines and cables from engine.
6. Remove air diverter valve and lines from air pump, if equipped.
7. Remove alternator belt and alternator.
8. Remove upper bellhousing bolts.
9. Raise and support vehicle and remove front wheels.
10. Remove left and right splash shields.
11. Remove power steering pump belt and pump mounting bolts. Position pump aside.
12. Remove water pump and crankshaft pulleys.
13. Remove front engine mounting bolt.
14. Remove transmission inspection cover, then the flex plate bolts.
15. Remove starter motor.
16. Remove lower bellhousing bolts.
17. Lower vehicle and support transmission with a suitable jack.
18. Attach suitable engine lifting equipment to engine.
19. Remove engine oil filter and right engine mount.
20. Lift and remove engine from vehicle.
21. Reverse procedure to install. Align engine as outlined in ``Front Suspension And Steering,'' to ensure proper driveshaft length.
