The engine and transmission are removed as an assembly.
1. Disconnect battery cables and drain cooling system.
2. Scribe hood hinge locations and remove hood.
3. Remove radiator hoses, radiator and shroud assembly.
4. Remove air cleaner.
5. Remove A/C compressor mounting bolts and position compressor aside, if equipped.
6. Disconnect all wiring, hoses, lines and cables from engine.
7. Remove air diverter valve and lines from air pump.
8. Remove alternator belt and alternator.
9. Disconnect clutch and speedometer cables.
10. Raise and support vehicle.
11. On models with A-412 transaxle, disconnect drive shaft from transaxle and secure aside. On models with A-460 transaxle, remove driveshafts as outlined in ``Front Suspension and Steering.''
12. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold.
13. Remove air pump hoses and lines, air pump belt and air pump.
14. Disconnect transmission linkage.
15. Lower vehicle.
16. Attach suitable engine lifting equipment to engine.
17. Raise engine slightly and remove front engine mount bolt.
18. Remove right and left engine mount bolts.
19. Remove engine and transmission assembly from vehicle.
20. Reverse procedure to install. Align engine as outlined in ``Front Suspension and Steering,'' to ensure proper driveshaft length.
