C.Inspection and Replacement of Exhaust Manifold

1. Remove heat shield from around the exhaust manifold.

2. Visually inspect the inside of the heat shield for signs of exhaust leakage such as carbon deposits.
3. If leakage is found, replace the exhaust manifold with exhaust manifold parts package P/N C3940381 as follows:

a. Remove bolts securing the exhaust manifold to the front catalyst case assembly.

b. Remove the exhaust manifold stud nuts and slide the manifold and gasket off the studs. Remove the gasket from the front catalyst case.

c. Install the supplied front catalyst case gasket. Install the supplied manifold gasket and slide the new manifold on the studs.

d. Tighten the front catalyst case assembly attaching bolts to 24 ft.lbs (32 N-m).
3. e. Tighten the manifold stud nuts to 13 ft.lbs (17 N-m).

f. Install oxygen sensor from original manifold to new manifold.

4. Reinstall heat shield.

5. Reinstall air cleaner assembly.
