DEALER SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS

EMISSIONS RECALL # 480 -- FUEL INJECTOR


^ This recall applies only to 1987 Model Year passenger cars equipped with a 2.5L fuel injected engine, automatic transmission and federal emission control system and built before February 15, 1987 (MDH prior to 02-15-00). The following models are affected:

^ Plymouth Caravelle and Reliant

^ Dodge Aries, Daytona, Lancer and 600

^ Chrysler LeBaron 2-Door, LeBaron 4-Door, LeBaron GTS, Town & Country Wagon and New Yorker

^ After removing the injector cap during the service procedure, note the color of the injector. If the injector is red, it does not need to be replaced. If it is black, replacement is required.

^ When replacing an injector, be sure to lubricate the new 0-rings with a thin film of clean motor oil. Lubricate only the 0-rings. Failure to do this step may result in fuel leaking past the 0-rings.

^ After reassembly of the injector, check for fuel leaks using DRBII ATM test 02 to pressurize the system.
