EMISSIONS RECALL --
1987 CHRYSLER MOTORS PASSENGER CAR WITH A 2.5 LITER FUEL INJECTED ENGINE

Dear Chrysler Motors Vehicle Owner:

It has been determined that your 1987 Plymouth, Dodge or Chrysler car, with a 2.5 liter fuel injected engine and automatic transmission, may be in violation of Federal Emissions Standards. Carbon monoxide levels could above the allowable limits, which were established to protect the public health from the dangers of air pollution. For this reason, we are asking you to return your vehicle -- identified by the Vehicle Identification Number on the enclosed form -- to your dealer for a special service repair. This service will be provided free of charge.

The needed instructions have been sent to all Chrysler-Plymouth and Dodge dealers. The service will not hurt your engine performance or use fuel economy.

If your vehicle's fuel injector has been replaced since January 26, 1987, you can disregard this notice. In this case, please check the box on the enclosed Vehicle Disposition Form next to the statement, "This service was previous performed." Detach the preaddressed form from the left hand stub and mail the form to Chrysler. No postage is required. The information will be used to update our service records.

If the fuel injector on your vehicle has not been replaced since January 26, 1987, you can obtain the needed free service as follows:

^ Contact your dealer as soon as possible to make an appointment for the free service.

^ Take the enclosed Owner Recall Notification Form with you at the time of your appointment and give it to your dealer. The form identifies the vehicle and recall for which service is required.

^ The dealer will inspect the fuel injector and replace it as necessary. The service will take about one-half hour, but additional time may be required depending on how service appointments are scheduled and processed.

If you have any problem obtaining the service, please contact the Chrysler Zone Service in your area. (It is listed under "Service Assistance" in your operator's manual). A Zone representative will arrange for prompt servicing of your vehicle. If you are still unable to obtain the repair as described in this letter within a reasonable time you may also contact the Manufacturers Operations Division of the Environmental Protection Agency (EN-340F), 401 M Street S.W., Washington, D. C. 20460.

We regret any inconvenience this action may cause, but trust you understand our interest in clean air and in your continuing satisfaction with our product. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
