Torque Converter Clutch Shudder

TCC shudder in an A-470 or an A-670 can in some cases be eliminated by using Chrysler 7176 ATF. The part number for a gallon can is 4667722.

In many cases, however, a shudder sensation will be caused by engine related problems. Because of this, Chrysler has authorized the disabling of the torque converter clutch. There is a kit available from Chrysler to eliminate the converter clutch operation (PN 4419447). The kit consists of a wire harness assembly, solenoid cap, two (2) tie wraps and an authorized modification label (each part can be ordered separately as well).

Chrysler has also released a service bulletin (# 18-03-88-revision A) addressing this concern, and the service wire harness assembly.

NOTE:
The converter clutch can also be disabled by blocking the switch valve, in the spring-relaxed position.
