Visual Inspection
Most problems with the multi-point fuel injection system can usually be traced to poor hose or wiring connections. Before proceeding with system tests or diagnosis, inspect the following:
1. Check ignition cable and ignition coil electrical connections.
2. Ensure purge solenoid, EGR diagnostic solenoid, MAP sensor, torque lockup solenoid and alternator electrical connectors are secure.
3. Ensure purge solenoid, EGR diagnostic solenoid, MAP sensor, vapor canister, fuel pressure regulator and EGR system vacuum connections are secure.
4. Ensure engine ground strap is attached at engine and dash panel.
5. Ensure oxygen sensor, distributor, charge temperature sensor, coolant temperature sensor, oil pressure sending unit, throttle body, fuel injector, neutral safety switch and distance sensor connectors are secure.
6. Ensure power brake booster and speed control connections are secure.
7. Ensure engine harness to main harness electrical connections are secure.
8. Ensure SMEC 14-way and 60-way electrical connections are secure.
