THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 02-04-89, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES. THE INSIDE DIAMETER OF THE BUSHING HAS BEEN CHANGED AND A NEW PART NUMBER HAS BEEN ISSUED.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Some vehicles equipped with a 16 mm diameter stabilizer bar and the 1.5L engine may exhibit a squeaking noise in the front suspension. This noise may be caused by the stabilizer bushings and may be more noticeable at ambient temperatures below 32~F (0~C).
DIAGNOSIS
Have a helper jounce the front suspension while you listen for the squeaking noise at the right and left stabilizer bushings. If the noise is coming from either bushing, perform the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
This repair involves replacing both stabilizer bushings.
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Using a dab of touch-up paint, index mark the location of both stabilizer bushings on the stabilizer bar.
3. Remove the right and left stabilizer bushing bracket mounting bolts.
4. Remove the brackets and bushings from the stabilizer bar.
NOTE: THE UPPER AND LOWER BRACKETS ARE MARKED "R" FOR RIGHT SIDE AND "L" FOR LEFT SIDE, BE SURE TO INSTALL THEM ON THE CORRECT SIDE WHEN REASSEMBLING.

5. Install the new bushings on the stabilizer bar, position the brackets on the bushings being sure that the projection on the bushing is seated in the brackets (see Figure 1).
6. Align both the bushing/bracket assembly with the index marks and install bolts. Tighten the bolts to 17-26 N-m (12-19 ft.lbs.) torque.
7. Lower vehicle.
