1. Remove hood and righthand under cover, then drain transaxle oil and clutch fluid.
2. Remove drain and filler plugs, then disconnect main fusible link from battery tray.
3. Remove battery, battery tray and under bracket.
4. Remove air cleaner assembly, then disconnect clutch slave cylinder hydraulic line, if equipped.
5. Disconnect clutch cable, if equipped, speedometer cable and back-up lamp wiring harness from transaxle.
6. Disconnect electrical connectors from starter, then remove starter and upper transaxle to engine attaching bolts.
7. Remove dust cover, then disconnect stabilizer and righthand strut bars.
8. Insert two large screwdrivers between transaxle case and drive shaft and pry drive shaft from transaxle. Secure to body with wire.
9. Remove bell housing cover, then attach a chain to engine hooks and lift engine enough to relieve pressure on mounting bracket insulators, support transaxle with a suitable transaxle jack and remove mounting bracket.
10. Slide transaxle assembly to right, lower and remove from vehicle.
11. Reverse procedure to install. Bleed clutch hydraulic system, if equipped and torque attaching bolts to specifications.
