Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

Throttle Position Sensor:

1. Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) connector.
2. Measure the resistance between terminal 2 (sensor ground), and terminal 1 (sensor power).
Standard value: 3.5-6.5 K-ohms.
3. Connect an ohmmeter between terminal 2 and terminal 3 (sensor output).
4. Operate the throttle valve slowly, from the idle position to the wide open throttle position, and check that the resistance changes smoothly proportionate to the throttle valve opening angle.
NOTE: The minimum TPS sensor resistance reading should be approximately 0.5 k-ohms.
5. If any resistance reading is out of specification, or the resistance fails to change smoothly, replace the TPS.
