Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Start-Up Cycle

The start-up cycle takes place immediately after the ignition switch is turned ON. It is an electrical check of some basic electrical functions such as the system relay and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) warning lamp. During this check, the ABS warning lamp is illuminated and is extinguished at the completion of the test. Total test duration is approximately 1-2 seconds.

NOTE: If a new controller is installed on the vehicle, it must be enabled using the Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB). The ABS warning lamp will flash every 1.6 seconds and ABS braking will not be allowed until the controller is enabled using the DRB.
