Instrument Panel Top Cover Glare/Fit, Glove Box & Ash Receiver Fit

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 23-83-94 DATED DEC. 2, 1994 WHICH SHOULD BE NOTED IN YOUR FILES. THIS BULLETIN ADDS ANOTHER ITEM TO CONDITION A AND RELATED PARTS WHICH ARE HIGHLIGHTED WITH **ASTERISKS**.

MODELS:
1995 (PL) Neon

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

A. Customer complaint of excessive windshield reflections from the instrument panel top cover or poor fit. NOTE: THIS CONDITION APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO Oct. 3, 1994 (MDH 1O-03-XX).

** Customer complaint of poor fit of the instrument panel top cover forward black foam seal. NOTE: THIS CONDITION APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO DEC. 31, 1994 (MDH 12-31-XX). **

B. Customer complaint of poor fitting ash receiver, uneven or excessive gap at center bezel when closed. NOTE: THIS CONDITION APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO Oct. 3, 1994 (MDH 1O-03-XX).

C. Customer complaint of poor glove box fit to dash panel when closed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE (SYMPTOM A):

This repair procedure involves replacing the instrument panel top cover.

Replace the instrument panel top cover with the appropriate part listed in the Parts Required section as outlined in the 1995 Neon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-5025), Page 8E-7.

REPAIR PROCEDURE (SYMPTOM B):

This repair procedure involves replacing the instrument panel center bezel with a revised part.

Replace the instrument panel center bezel with the appropriate part listed in the Parts Required section, as outlined in the 1995 Neon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-5025), Page 8E-10.

PARTS REQUIRED (SYMPTOM C):

AR EW42PS6 Glove Box Door Assembly-Quartz

REPAIR PROCEDURE (SYMPTOM C):

This repair procedure involves replacing the glove box door assembly with a revised part that has improved locating features that allows for a wider range of adjustment.

NOTE:
INSPECT THE GLOVE BOX DOOR INNER SIDE. IF IT HAS A RAISED PAD ON THE DOOR INNER SURFACE APPROXIMATELY 1/8" IN HEIGHT THAT LINES UP WITH THE GLOVE BOX LAMP SWITCH WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED, DO NOT REPLACE THE DOOR ASSEMBLY. PROCEED TO STEP 3.

1. Remove the old glove box door assembly by removing the three screws along the bottom hinge.

2. Install the revised glove box door assembly with the appropriate part listed in the Parts Required section. Do not tighten the retaining screws completely. Proceed to Step 4.

3. If the glove box door assembly was not replaced, loosen the three screws along the hinge to allow for adjustment.

4. Use a .06 In. (1.5 mm) shim along the right edge of the glove box door to center the assembly in the instrument panel opening and tighten the three retaining screws before removing the shim.

POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
