REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing a revised backlite molding.
NOTE:
THIS REPAIR MUST BE PERFORMED IN AN AREA THAT ALLOWS THE VEHICLE, BACKLITE AND NEW BACKLITE MOLDING TO BE AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 70~F-90~F.
1. Remove the rear window glass as outlined in the 1995 Neon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-5025), Pg. 23-28.
2. Prepare the backlite and backlite fence for installation of the backlite molding as outlined in the 1995 Neon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-5025), Pg. 23-6.
3. With the glass positioned, inside up, on a suitable work surface, install the backlite molding, P/N 5288180, on the glass. Start attaching the molding by seating the bottom corners to the glass. Then seat the molding on the lower edge of the glass by working toward the middle from both sides. Continue to work the molding up along both sides of the glass, around the corners and toward the top center from both sides. Push the molding straight onto the glass to avoid stretching it (See Figure 1).
4. Continue to follow the backlite installation instructions in the 1995 Neon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-5025), Pg. 23-7, with the exception of the application of the urethane. Apply a 13 mm (0.5 In.) bead of urethane 2 mm (0.1 In) from the edge of the molding (See Figure 2).
5. Complete the installation of the backlite/molding assembly onto the vehicle.
