General Information
Brake System And ComponentsThe hydraulically actuated 4 wheel disc brake system on this vehicle consists of the components listed below. The components listed have been specifically developed for their use on this vehicle. The unique development of these components is to ensure the vehicle meets the required braking performance standard established for this vehicle.
Below are the major components of the brake system used on this vehicle.
- The front disc brakes used on this vehicle are a 60 mm single piston double pin floating caliper design. The rear disc brakes used on this vehicle are a 54 mm single piston double pin floating caliper design.
- Organic non-asbestos front and rear brake lining material is used on this vehicle.
- Frame mounted proportioning valve with a brake pressure warning switch.
- Combined master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir.
- Vacuum actuated power brake booster.
Vertically Split Hydraulic Braking System Tube Routing And Tube Nut Thread Size:
The brakes hydraulic system on this vehicle is vertically split. On a vertically split hydraulic system, the pressure in the hydraulic system is split front to rear, with both front brakes on one hydraulic system and both rear brakes on the other. A conventional front wheel drive vehicle has a hydraulic system which is diagonally split, having the left front and right rear brake on one hydraulic system and the right front and left rear brake on the other.
The master cylinder used on this vehicle is made of an anodized, lightweight aluminum, with a piston bore size of 25.4 mm. (1.0 inch).
The power assist for the brake system on this vehicle is provided by a vacuum actuated, tandem diaphragm vacuum booster.
