Radiator Cooling Fan: Service and Repair
Fan Module-Blade and MotorREMOVAL-ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the front engine compartment supports.
2. Remove upper radiator crossmember.
3. Disconnect fan module electrical connector.
4. Remove wiring harness clip at lower left corner of fan module.
Fan Module:
5. Remove fan module to radiator fasteners and retaining clips. Lift fan module upward to release the lower attachment points and remove module from radiator.
Blade-Remove And Install
1. To remove fan from motor shaft, bench support the motor and motor shaft, while removing the fan retaining clip, so that the shaft and motor will not be damaged by excessive force. Surface or burr removal may be required to remove fan from motor shaft. Do not permit the fan blades to touch the bench.
2. To install fan on motor shaft, slide the fan over shaft. Support motor and shaft as above while installing fan retaining clip.
Fan Motor-Remove
1. Remove the motor fasteners from support Remove motor from support.
2. Reverse the above procedure for Installation. Torque the fan motor fasteners to 3 Nm (25 inch lbs.).
INSTALLATION-ASSEMBLY
1. Install fan module to radiator. Attach retaining clips and torque shroud to radiator fasteners to 5 Nm (45 inch lbs.).
2. Connect wiring harness clip at lower left corner of fan module.
3. Connect fan motor electrical connector. Refer to applicable electrical diagrams as necessary.
4. Install upper radiator crossmember and engine compartment supports.
