Alternator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove the body side panel.
3. Remove headlamp assembly.

Power Steering Reservoir:

4. Remove power steering reservoir.
5. Remove wiring harness from body brace.

Body Brace:

6. Remove body brace.
7. Remove generator drive belt.

Generator Connections:

8. Remove generator field circuit from generator.
9. Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire.
10. Loosen lower mounting bolt do not remove.

Mounting Bolts:

11. Loosen pivot bolt, but do not remove.

Rear Bracket And Pencil Brace:

12. Remove rear bracket and pencil brace from generator.
13. Remove lower mounting bolt.
14. Remove pivot bolt.

Remove Generator:

15. Remove generator.

INSTALLATION
1. Install generator and loose install upper and lower bolts.
2. Install rear bracket and pencil brace.
3. Torque all bolts, refer to the torque chart.
4. Connect B+ terminal nut and the field connector.
5. Install drive belt to generator.
6. Tighten belt, refer to specifications.
7. Install wiring harness to brace and install brace.
8. Install power steering reservoir to brace.
9. Install headlamp assembly.
10. Install body side panel.
11. Connect negative battery cable.
