Rearview Mirror Test
The EMTM will not display information for any of the screens for which it did not receive the bus messages. The label corresponding to the missing information will be lit. If no traveler data is displayed, check the CCD bus communications and the BCM. If the brightness level is improper check the CCD bus.Preliminary Diagnosis
One general method for checking the CCD bus communications between EMTM and the BCM is to perform the following procedure:
1. Step the EMTM to the Elapsed Time (ET) using the center button.
2. Press and release the reset button (right lamp button) to reset the module.
3. If the elapsed time clock does not reset, or fails to update, check the CCD bus wires and the BCM. The DRB Ill is recommended for checking the CCD bus and the BCM.
4.Perform the EMTM self-diagnosis before replacing the EMTM.
Electrochromic Mini-Trip Mirror (EMTM) Self-Diagnostics
The EMTM is capable of performing a diagnostic self check on many of its internal functions. Diagnostics may be performed using a DRB III(R) scan tool and the proper Body Diagnostic Procedures or by the following procedure:
1. While holding the center button, turn the ignition from the OFF position to the RUN position.
2. The EMTM will perform the following internal checks while lighting all segments of the vacuum florescent display:
- Non-volatile memory
- RAM
- ROM
- Compass ASIC communication test
- Compass test
- CCD bus test
3. Upon completion of the internal check (2 to 4 seconds), the EMTM will display one of the following:
- PASS
- FAIL
- BUS
4. If nothing is displayed and none of the segments light, check the wiring and power to the module.
5. If any segment of the display fails to light, replace the module.
6. If FAIL is displayed, replace the module.
7. If BUS is displayed, check the CCD and Body Control Module (BCM) for proper operation and refer to the appropriate Body Diagnostic Procedures. If the CCD and the BCM are both OK, replace the EMTM module.
For additional diagnostic information on the EMTM and for identifying EMTM problems, refer to the proper Body Diagnostic Procedures.
