Fig. 12 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) adjustment:
1. Remove TPS adjustment screw (52), Fig. 4, and apply thread sealing compound to screw.
2. Connect digital voltmeter between terminals B and C of TPS, leaving harness connector in place, Fig. 12. Insert voltmeter probes into rear of connector, ensuring that probes make proper contact with connector terminals.
3. On 1982 with full function C-3 system, ensure throttle is in curb idle position. On 1982 models with minimum function C-3 system and all 1983-88models, set fast idle screw on high step of cam.
4. Turn ignition to on position but do not start engine. Install TPS adjusting screw and adjust quickly to obtain voltmeter reading of 0.42 volts on 1982 with full function system or 0.92 volts on 1982 with minimum function system and all 1983-88 models.
