Engine: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove hood from vehicle.
3. Disconnect air inlet tube from turbocharger.
4. Discharge A/C refrigerant system, then disconnect refrigerant lines from compressor, accumulator and condenser.
5. Remove turbocharger inter cooler duct.
6. Drain cooling system, then disconnect radiator inlet and outlet hoses.
7. Disconnect coolant reservoir hose.
8. Disconnect cooling fan electrical connectors, then remove fan shroud with cooling fans attached.
9. Disconnect transmission oil cooler lines at radiator.
10. Remove radiator from vehicle.
11. Disconnect power steering pressure hose from pump and return hose from reservoir.
12. Relieve fuel system pressure as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/RELIEVING FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
13. Disconnect fuel lines at intake manifold, then remove fuel line valve cover brackets.
14. Disconnect fuel vapor canister hose at engine.
15. Disconnect heater hoses at fire wall.
16. Disconnect cables at throttle body.
17. Disconnect engine to body ground strap.
18. Disconnect power brake unit vacuum hose.
19. Disconnect and tag all vacuum hoses and electrical wiring at upper portion of engine which would interfere with engine removal.
20. Disconnect exhaust pipe from turbocharger.
21. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect wiring from starter motor.
22. Remove clips attaching transmission oil cooler lines to engine and intercooler.
23. Disconnect exhaust crossover pipe.
24. Remove torque converter cover, then remove torque converter to flywheel attaching bolts. Mark position of torque converter to flywheel so they can be installed in the same position.
25. Remove lower and side bellhousing to engine attaching bolts.
26. Remove engine mount through bolts.
27. Disconnect and tag all vacuum hoses and electrical wiring at lower portion of engine which would interfere with engine removal.
28. Lower vehicle, then disconnect battery ground cable from engine.
29. Remove upper bellhousing to engine attaching bolts.
30. Remove windshield wiper motor.
31. Remove transmission fluid filler tube.
32. Support transmission using a suitable transmission jack.
33. Install a suitable engine lifting device to engine, then remove engine from vehicle.
34. Reverse procedure to install.
