Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Crankshaft Sensor:

Harmonic Balancer Assembly:

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect Crankshaft Sensor harness connector.

2. Rotate the harmonic balancer using a 28 mm socket and pull handle until any interrupter window in the harmonic balancer aligns with the crank sensor.

3. Loosen the pinch bolt on the sensor pedestal until the sensor id free to slide in the pedestal.

4. Remove the pedestal to engine mounting bolts.

5. While manipulating the sensor within the pedestal, carefully remove the sensor and pedestal as a unit.

INSTALLATION

1. Loosen the pinch bolt on the new sensor pedestal until the sensor is free to slide in the pedestal.

2. Verify that the interrupter window in the harmonic balancer is still properly positioned and install sensor and pedestal as a unit while making sure the interrupter ring is properly aligned with the proper slot.

3. Install pedestal to engine mounting bolts and torque to 22 foot pounds.
