Refer to Fig. 4 for shift shaft detent components and transaxle housing view.

1. Install spring seat (144).
2. Install 5th/reverse bias spring (143).
3. Install spring seat (142).
4. Install attaching screw (141). Use a small amount of thread sealant No. 1052624 or equivalent.
5. Torque attaching screw (141) to 7 ft. lbs.
6. Install protective cover (140). Position cover below snap ring groove.
7. Install snap ring (139).
