Tachometer: Testing and Inspection

Disconnect connector C2 at the Direct Ignition System. Plug the J 33431-B Instrument Panel tester into wall outlet and connect the J 33431-10 harness connector from the I/P tester to connector C2 terminal C and ground. Turn the Ignition Switch to RUN. Set the control to ON and 54 mph.

^ If the Tachometer reads 1350 rpm, check the connections to be sure they are clean and tight.

^ If the Tachometer does not read correctly, check the WHT (121) wire for an open (see schematic). If OK, Service the Instrument Cluster.
