Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement

Auto Trans Control Assembly:

Remove or Disconnect

^ Disable SIR System.

CAUTION: When servicing an IP assembly containing a live inflator module, or when leaving an IP assembly containing a live inflator module unattended on a bench or other surface, always face the air bag deployment opening up, away from the surface. This is necessary so that a free space is provided to allow the air bag to expand in the unlikely even of accidental deployment. Failure to follow procedures could result in personal injury.

1. Lower console (if equipped).
2. Auto trans control assembly (if equipped with console).
3. Release cables.
4. Auto trans cable bracket (if equipped with console).
5. IP trim plate.
6. Steering column filler.
^ Lower steering column.
7. IP compartment insert screws and insert by pulling rearward.
8. Bolts to steering column support bracket brace.
9. Bolts to dash panel.
10. Bolts to IP support bracket.
11. Bolts to steering column support.
12. Electrical connectors, including antenna coax cable.
13. Aspirator hose.
14. IP assembly.

Install or Connect

Important
^ When installing the IP assembly, if it does not properly align with the bottom of the windshield, loosen the center and right IP support brackets to allow proper alignment and retighten after IP assembly is aligned.

1. IP assembly into position.
2. Aspirator hose.
3. Electrical connectors, including antenna coax cable.
4. Bolts to steering column support.

Tighten
^ Bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).

5. Bolts to IP support bracket.

Tighten
^ Bolts to 9.5 Nm (84 lb in).

6. Bolts to dash panel.

Tighten
^ Bolts to 3 Nm (27 lb in).

7. Bolts to steering column support bracket brace.

Tighten
^ Bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).

8. IP compartment insert screws after positioning.

Tighten
^ Screws to 1.9 Nm (17 lb in).
^ Raise steering column.

9. Steering column filler.
10. IP trim plate.
11. Auto trans cable bracket (if equipped with console).
12. Auto trans control assembly (if equipped with console).
13. Lower console.
^ Enable SIR system.
