Instrument Panel Cluster Replacement

Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING prior to working on or near the steering column. After completion of repairs, rearm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering column lower filler attaching screws, then remove.
3. Remove steering column support attaching bolts, then carefully lower steering column and cover to prevent damage.
4. Remove instrument panel trim plate attaching screws.
5. Pull headlamp dimmer and twilight sentinel control knob rearward.
6. Pull panel cluster plate rearward to remove.
7. Remove headlamp switch attaching screws, pull rearward, then remove dimmer and twilight sentinel control knob from switch.
8. Remove instrument panel cluster trim plate.
9. Remove instrument cluster attaching screws, then pull righthand side of cluster rearward, Fig. 31.
10. Depress cluster electrical connector locking tab through top right side of assembly.
11. Pull bottom of cluster rearward, then rotate cluster to face upward, then pull rearward to remove.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
