Enabling Theft Deterrent

With battery and ignition voltages applied and radio "OFF", perform the following steps to enable the security feature:
1. Depress preset buttons 1 (PREV) and 4 for 5 seconds. The display will show "SEC" indicating the unit is not in the secure state.
2. Using the "HR" and "MIN" buttons, enter any code number. The initial key press of either button will cause the display to indicate "000", the last 3 1/2 digit user code. Subsequent key presses of the "HR" button will cause the left 1 1/2 digits to increment and depressing the "MIN" button will cause the right two digits to increment. The digits will continuously increment at a rate of once every 1 sec. for the first two increments and then once every 250 m/sec, as long as the button is depressed. The digits will also increment by one with every momentary depression.
3. Depress the "AM/FM" button. The display will now show "REP" for 5 sec, indicating that the steps to reenter the 3 1/2 digit code will need to be repeated for verification.
4. Reenter the 3 1/2 digit code according to step 2.
5. Depress the "AM/FM" button. If the display shows "SEC", the verification was successful and the system is in the SECURE state. The indicator light will also flash when ignition is off. If the display shows "-" the verification steps were not successful and the entire sequence must be started over. The display will revert to TOD after 15 seconds.
