1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. On models with center console, remove console as follows:
a. Remove transaxle control lever handle, Fig. 55.
b. Remove ashtray, then the screws under ashtray.
c. Carefully pry up console center trim plate, then rotate trim plate back.
d. Remove transmission lever and console bracket bolts.
e. Open armrest bin lid and remove bin lower trim plate by lifting tab.
f. Remove lower console to floor stud nuts.
g. Remove front lower console vent clip, Fig. 56.
h. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove lower console.
i. Remove automatic transmission control assembly, release cables and automatic transmission cable bracket.
3. Remove instrument panel trim plate, Fig. 57.
4. Remove steering column filler panel from under steering column.
5. Remove steering column support bracket to instrument panel attaching bolts and lower steering column.
6. Remove glove compartment insert retaining screws, then the insert.
7. Carefully pry defroster grill out of instrument panel.
8. Remove instrument panel attaching screws through defroster grill opening.
9. Remove steering column support bracket brace attaching bolts.
10. Remove instrument panel to dash panel attaching bolts.
11. Remove instrument panel to instrument panel support bracket attaching bolts.
12. Remove steering column support bracket bolts.
13. Disconnect instrument panel electrical connectors, including antenna coax cable.
14. Disconnect aspirator hose, then remove instrument panel.
15. Reverse procedure to install.
