Determining Factory Backup Unlocking Code
If the security is activated and the radio assembly is disconnected from battery power, the radio assembly will display "LOC." The radio assembly will not turn on until the correct unlocking code is entered. If the customer code is lost or unavailable, use the following procedures to determine the factory backup code. This procedure requires a tone dialing telephone.
1. Turn ignition to "ACCESSORY" or "RUN" position and turn radio off.
2. If the unit is in the locked condition ("LOC" is displayed), skip this step. Otherwise, depress preset buttons 1 ("PREV") and 4 for five seconds. The display will show either "---" (unsecured state) or "SEC" (secured state).
3. Depress preset buttons 2 ("NEXT") and 3 for five seconds. Display will show first three digits of factory code. Write them down.
4. Depress "AM/FM" button. Display will show second three digits of factory code. Write them down.
5. Depress "AM/FM" button. Unit will display either "LOC," "SEC" or "---" depending on state unit is in. Unit will revert to initial display prior to code retrieval sequence after 15 seconds or any operator interaction.
6. Using tone dialing telephone, call 1-800-537-5140 (U.S. and Canada) or (317) 451-8965.
7. When computer advises, enter dealer code or radio shop account number using telephone keypad, then press the star key.
8. When advised, enter six-digit radio identification number obtained in steps 2 and 3, then press the star key. Computer will respond with unlocking code. Write it down.
9. To unlock secured radio, refer to "Unlocking Secured Audio Assembly after Power Loss" in this section.
