Traction Control

Traction Control System (TCS) Circuit:

Purpose:
The PCM receives an input signal from the traction control system to indicate when a traction control event is occuring. The PCM inhibits upshifts, downshifts and TCC operation during a traction control event.

Operation:
The B+ signal during normal operation is pulled to zero volts during a traction control event. When an event occurs the following reactions occur:

^ "Traction Engaged" lamp is illuminated
^ Cruise control release switch is activated
^ TCC operation is inhibited
^ When in hot mode 4th gear operation is inhibited

The PCM inputs TP sensor information to the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) where the information is processed to reduce throttle opening during an event.

The EBTCM sends a request signal to the PCM to retard spark timing during an event. The EBTCM also commands brake intervention to increase traction during a traction control event.

Location:
The EBTCM is located under the instrument panel, next to the left hand hinge pillar, just above the pass thru grommet.
