Engine: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Remove air cleaner and duct assembly.
3. Remove exhaust crossover heat shield and the exhaust crossover pipe.
4. Remove serpentine belt, tensioner and idler, if equipped.
5. Disconnect radiator hose at engine.
6. Disconnect accelerator and T.V. cables at throttle valve.
7. Remove alternator and disconnect wiring harness at engine.
8. Loosen fuel filler cap to relieve tank vapor pressure, then disconnect fuel hoses and the coolant bypass and overflow hoses at engine.
9. Raise and support vehicle, then remove right inner fender splash shield.
10. Remove harmonic balance and the flywheel cover.
11. Remove starter attaching bolts, disconnect electrical connectors at starter and remove starter.
12. Remove A/C compressor and its mounting bracket(s).
13. Disconnect exhaust pipe at rear of manifold.
14. Remove flex plate to torque converter attaching bolts and the transaxle to engine brace bolts.
15. Remove front and rear engine mount to frame attaching bolts.
16. Disconnect shift cable bracket at transaxle.
17. Remove lower bellhousing bolts and lower vehicle.
18. Disconnect heater hoses at engine.
19. Install suitable engine lifting device and support transaxle with suitable jack.
20. Remove transaxle attaching bolts.
21. Remove engine from vehicle.
22. Reverse procedure to install.
