Diagnostic Preparation

Before beginning any operation check, make sure the following components and circuits work properly:

- Parking lamps

- Low beam headlamps

- Horn

- Electrical door locks

Make sure the headlamps and parking lamps are off. Open a window in order to unlock the door without using a key. The "SECURITY" indicator should not be on while performing these steps.

Note: For "No Crank" or "No Start" condition, refer to or PASS-Key II diagnosis.

Try the following checks before doing the "System Check" in this section:

1. Check I/P Fuse Block CHIME fuse, and Rear Fuse Block I/P 1 fuse and Right Front Underhood Relay Center HORN fuse by visual inspection. If the I/P 1 fuse is blown(Oldsmobile only), there is still a battery feed sneak path from the HZRD/STOP fuse to the RAC module. Therefore, the RAC module may not be completely shut down.

2. When an intermittent problem exists, check applicable connectors for proper terminal contact.
