1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering wheel as outlined under Steering Wheel. Refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering.
3. Remove steering column covers.
4. On Achieva and Skylark models, proceed as follows:
a. Remove instrument panel lower trim pad attaching screws and pad, Fig.18 .
b. Remove HVAC/Radio housing attaching screws, Fig.19 .
5. On Grand Am models, proceed as follows:
a. Remove instrument cluster trim plate. Refer to "Instrument Cluster Replace" in this section.
b. Remove instrument panel lower trim plate attaching screws and plate, Fig.20 .
c. Remove HVAC/Radio housing attaching screws, Fig.21 .
d. Remove cassette player attaching screws, then disconnect electrical connector and remove player, Fig.22.
6. Remove radio to radio bracket attaching nuts.
7. Pull radio rearward to disconnect antenna and electrical connectors, then remove radio assembly.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Torque radio to radio bracket attaching nuts to 35 inch lbs.
