System Diagnosis - Charging System
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS1. Check the battery hydrometer eye that is built into the vehicle's battery before troubleshooting the charging system.
- Green eye - Battery is charged sufficient for load testing.
- Dark eye - Battery is discharged. Recharge Battery for load test.
- Clear or yellow eye - Battery fluid is low. Replace Battery.
2. Check HVAC BLO MOT Fuse and Fusible Link G Fuse.
3. Check the generator belt.
4. Check the Starter Solenoid term "B" and Battery connections are clean and tight.
- Refer to Starter access.
- Refer to Generator access.
- Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check (see "Diagnostic Aids for General Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
- Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may effect the integrity of other systems (see "Diagnostic Aids for General Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
