This bulletin revises the list under "Inhibited Operation" and adds a new Chart "D" for Section 5E2 of the appropriate Service Manual as follows:

The following list supersedes the list on page 5E2-8 of the Service Manual:

Inhibited Operation

There are a number of reasons that the Enhanced Traction System (ETS) will be disabled:

- ETS OFF switch is in the "OFF" position.

- EBTCM senses a valid brake switch input.

- Park brake is engaged.

- Engine coolant temperature is not within normal operating range.

- Manifold air temperature is not within normal operating range.

- PCM sets a DTC that turns on the "CHECK ENGINE" lamp.

- PCM sets a Type "C" or "D" Failure Record that does NOT turn on the "CHECK ENGINE" lamp.

- EBTCM sets a DTC 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 32, 33, 34 and/or 35 (any wheel speed sensor DTC).

^ Chart D (see chart) is to be added to the Symptom Table which starts on page 5E2-30 (J-Car Service Manual) and 5E2-29 (N-Car Service Manual).

The following sub-heading "ETS OFF Switch Operation (Pontiac and Oldsmobile)" supersedes the sub-heading on page 5E2-8:

(Pontiac and Oldsmobile)

A switch is used to allow the operator to turn the ETS "OFF" and "ON". The "ETS OFF" switch is located within the gear shifter for Pontiac. The Oldsmobile switch is left of the steering column on the Instrument Panel.
