C1277
DTC C1277: Left Front Solenoid Circuit Shorted To Voltage:
DTC C1277 Schematic:
Circuit Description
This DTC identifies a solenoid that cannot be energized due to a short to ground on the circuit between the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) and the solenoid. These malfunctions can affect ABS operation.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
This DTC will set when the following conditions are met:
^ The EBCM identifies a situation in which the left front solenoid cannot be turned ON due to a short to ground in CKT 1288.
^ This DTC can be set only when the left front solenoid is turned ON.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
A malfunction DTC is stored, ABS is disabled, and the amber ABS indicator lamp is turned ON.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
^ Conditions for the malfunction are no longer present and the Tech 2 scan tool Clear DTC Information function is used.
^ One hundred drive cycles have passed with no malfunctions detected.
Diagnostic Aids
The following list contains items that need to be inspected when diagnosing this system:
^ Short to ground between the left front solenoid and the EBCM (CKT 1288).
^ Faulty left front solenoid (low coil resistance).
An intermittent malfunction is most likely caused by a rubbed through wire insulation. Any circuitry that is suspected of causing the intermittent complaint should be thoroughly checked for improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, or physical damage to the wiring harness.
The frequency of the malfunction can be checked by using the Enhanced Diagnostic function of the Tech 2 scan tool, as described in Enhanced Diagnostics.
Test Description
The numbers below refer to step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. Checks for a short to ground in CKT 1288.
3. Checks ABS solenoid resistance.
