DTC C1286: EBCM Turned On The Red BRAKE Warning Indicator:





Circuit Description
This DTC is provided as an INFORMATION ONLY test and reflects the status of the command issued by the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) to illuminate the red BRAKE warning lamp. When another diagnostic DTC issues a command to illuminate the red BRAKE warning lamp, DTC C1286 will be stored in memory as a history DTC at the conclusion of the drive cycle.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
If another DTC issues a command to illuminate the BRAKE warning indicator, DTC C1286is stored as a history DTC at the conclusion of the ignition cycle.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC
^ Conditions for the malfunction are no longer present and the Tech 2 scan tool Clear DTC Information function is used.
^ One hundred drive cycles have passed with no malfunctions detected.

Diagnostic Aids
Any ABS mechanical DTC that issues a command to illuminate the red BRAKE warning lamp will also result in DTC C1286 being stored in memory during shut down. These DTCs are: C1242, C1246, and C1251.

If the motors are not in their home position, certain electrical DTCs will also command the red BRAKE warning lamp ON. These DTCs are: C1214, C1216, C1218, C1236, C1255, C1264, C1265, and C1266.

If any of these DTCs are indicated along with DTC C1286, they must be corrected prior to addressing a DTC C1286 malfunction.
