Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

SIR Forward Discriminating Sensor:




Condenser Liquid Line:




Compressor Discharge Hose:




Radiator Center Brace:




Condenser Mounting Bolts:






Important

^ When installing a new condenser, add 20-30 ml (0.7-1 fl. oz.) of refrigerant oil to the refrigeration system.

Remove or Disconnect

1. Disable the SIR.
2. Discharge and recover refrigerant. Refer to Discharging, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging the Refrigeration System.
3. Negative (-) battery cable.
4. Front bumper.
5. Disconnect and slide out hood latch cable from hood latch assembly.
6. SIR forward discriminating sensor electrical connector.
7. Condenser fan electrical connector.
8. One bolt, two electrical connectors and horn from vehicle.
9. Liquid tube condenser fitting.
10. One nut and discharge hose from condenser.
11. Six screws and radiator center brace.
12. Two condenser mounting bolts and remove condenser from vehicle.
13. Cap refrigerant system openings to prevent moisture and dirt from entering System.

Disassemble

^ Two bolts, two screws and remove condenser fan from condenser.

Assemble

^ Condenser fan to condenser; secure with two bolts and two screws.

Install or Connect

1. Condenser onto the radiator support; secure with two bolts.
2. Center brace to vehicle. Secure with six screws.
3. Fasten the condenser fan to the center brace with bolt.
4. Connect the discharge hose to the condenser; secure with one nut.

Tighten

^ Discharge hose to condenser nut to 9.8 N.m. (86.74 lb. in.).

5. Connect the liquid tube to the condenser fitting.
6. Horn to vehicle; secure with one bolt.
7. Horn electrical connectors.
8. Condenser cooling fan electrical connector.
9. SIR forward discriminating sensor electrical connector.
10. Hood latch cable.
11. Front Bumper.
12. Negative (-) battery cable.
13. Evacuate and recharge air conditioning system. Refer to Discharging, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging the Refrigeration System.
14. Operate A/C system and check for refrigerant leaks. Refer to Refrigerant Leak Testing.
15. Enable the SIR.
