Speedometer Head: Service and Repair

Instrument Cluster Assembly:

Gage Mounting Screws (Typical):

IMPORTANT:
When replacing a speedometer or odometer assembly, the law requires the odometer reading of the replacement unit to be set to register the same mileage as the prior odometer. If the same mileage cannot be set, the law requires that the replacement odometer be set to zero (0) and a label be installed on the driver's door frame to show the previous odometer reading and date of replacement.

Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Instrument cluster from instrument panel.
3. Cluster lens and bezel assembly from cluster housing by pushing on tabs.
4. Four screws and speedometer gage from cluster housing.

Install or Connect
1. Speedometer gage to cluster housing; secure with four screws.
2. Cluster lens and bezel to cluster housing.
3. Instrument cluster to instrument panel.
4. Negative (-) battery cable.
