Troubleshooting Hints - Exterior Lights

1. If the Turn Lamps do not work, check the TURN Fuse.
2. If the Hazard Lamps do not work, check the HAZARD Fuse.
3. If one of the Turn Indicators goes on when the Park Lamps are turned "ON," check the Front Park/Turn Lamp on that side for an open or poor connection.
4. If Turn Lamps stay on (do not flash) in both Turn Left and Turn Right, replace the Hazard Lamp/Turn Signal Flasher.
5. For any of the following symptoms replace the Turn Signal Switch:
^ Turn Signal Switch will not turn ON/OFF.
^ All Turn/Hazard/Stop Lamps do not work and C201 is firmly mated.
^ Some Turn Lamps work and all Hazard Lamps work.
^ Some Hazard Lamps work and all Turn Lamps work.
^ Hazard Lamps do not turn off.
6. If Hazard Lamps stay on (do not flash) with Hazard Switch on, but Stop Lamps operate normally, replace the Hazard Lamp/Turn Signal Lamp Flasher.
7. If a Turn Indicator does not light but the Turn Signal works, check the bulb, connection and wiring to the Turn Indicator.
8. If only one lamp does not operate, check the lamp socket and related wiring for opens or corrosion.
9. If one Front Park/Turn and/or Side Marker Lamp does not light, make sure the ground is clean and tight.
10. If none of the Tail/Stop/Turn and Park/Turn Lamps work, check the PARK Fuse.
11. If all of the lamps do not turn off, check the Headlamp Switch. If OK, repair CKT 9 for a short to B+.
12. If one rear lamp is inoperative, check for open in CKT 350 between S402 and lamp socket. Check for open in CKT 9 between S407 and inoperative lamp.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnect. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
^ Refer to System Diagnosis.
