Programming Transmitters
RKE Transmitter:
In the event that a transmitter is lost, all transmitters should be deleted from the receiver memory to prevent unwanted use of the lost transmitter and the "new" transmitter(s) will need to be programmed into the receiver memory.
IMPORTANT:
^ Once the Keyless Entry Receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode, the programming of the first transmitter erases all previous transmitter programming information, requiring the programming of all transmitters.
^ Program only one vehicle Keyless Entry Receiver at a time. If multiple receivers are being programmed in close proximity simultaneously, it is possible that the same transmitter could be programmed to more than one keyless entry receiver.
To program the Important (RKE) Transmitter, use the following procedure:
1. Pull the MALL PGM Fuse.
2. Turn the Ignition Switch to "ACCESSORY."
3. Turn the Ignition Switch "LOCK" and then to "ACCESSORY" within 1 second. At this point you should be in the Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostics.
4. Open and close any door. You should hear a chime if you are in the diagnostic mode. If a chime is not heard, try to reenter diagnostics by starting this procedure over with step #1. If diagnostics have not been entered after a second attempt, refer to Body Control Module for appropriate diagnostic procedure. Body Control Module
5. Press and hold the "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons simultaneously on the RKE Transmitter for 14 seconds. At the 7 second mark you may hear a chime. Continue holding the "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons on the RKE Transmitter until you hear a chime around the 14 second mark.
6. Repeat step #5 for the rest of the transmitters (up to 4).
7. Exit BCM diagnostics by turning the Ignition Switch to the LOCK position and placing the MALL PGM Fuse back into the Fuse Block.
The RKE Transmitter should be programmed at this time.
